Flipboard App Now Integrates With Apple’s iBookstore

Image: Flipboard

Flipboard, the celebrated “social magazine” app, adds a new layer of content for users of the iOS versions: access to Apple’s iBookstore.

Flipboard is introducing a new Books category filled with 25 sections, including Biographies & Memoirs, Comics & Graphic Novels, Nonfiction, and Humor. Users can browse through these sections to see large graphics of the book covers. Tapping a cover reveals information about the book, such as author and publisher, as well as a summary of the title and highlights from critics, when available. From there, users can click to download the book from the iBookstore. The actual reading will still happen in iBooks.

Previously, Flipboard gave users access to editorial and photographic content based on subject, like Travel or Business, as well as audio content from popular podcasts, seamlessly intertwined with relevant highlights from social media streams.

The Books section is now available for iOS users in the U.S., U.K., Canada, Australia, France, Italy, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands and Brazil as part of a free app update.
